KFAS has signed a MOU of cooperation with GS-SCPD on 26 January 2016. The Agreement was signed by the Secretary General of the GS-SCPD, Dr. Khaled Mahdi, and Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin, Director General of KFAS. The agreement aims to enable and strengthen institutional cooperation in capacity building in the areas of national policy facilitation, planning and development.
Adnan Shihab-Eldin said that the Foundation’s role will be to stimulate and facilitate research cooperation and building cumulative knowledge that enables general decision making based on evidence and scientific basis. He added that: “the Foundation hopes this collaboration with the General Secretariat and its specialized centers will result in venues for linking local research needs and potential of utilizing know-how and expertise of the world's most prestigious research institutions in relevant areas, such as law, social sciences and Humanities. The Foundation takes into account the need for national capacity-building to materialize, which is an integral part of KFAS role."
Dr. Khaled Mahdi said: "this cooperation will include the four centers of the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development namely; Kuwait Center of Public Policy; the National Center of knowledge Economy; the National Observatory of Sustainable Development and Future Studies; the National Center of Developmental research. These centers were recently established to serve the sustainable development objectives in Kuwait. "
Dr. Mahdi added "this agreement aims at the cooperation between the Foundation and the General Secretariat in the area of policy making based on scientific research and evidence, knowledge economy, promotion and dissemination of high quality scientific research, enabling collaborative research, technology transfer and innovation."
