To better understand, manage and implement the right infrastructure needed to create and sustain a science based culture in Kuwait, we  offer opportunities for future researchers, leaders and key policy makers from various state ministries and the private sector, to work closely with the most renowned academic and research institutions worldwide.


The Foundation provides various collaborative programs, professional trainings, workshops, conferences and collaborative research projects to achieve the following goals:

  • Promoting technology transfer and best practices in applied research

  • THE KUWAIT PROGRAM FOR CONTEMPORARY ARAB CULTURE – UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY California,USA

    The Kuwait Program for Contemporary Arab Culture is a collaboration between UC Berkeley and KFAS based at International Association for the Study of Traditional Environments (IASTE). The programs focuses on the areas of urban planning, architecture, landscape design, environmental design, new-media design, urban history, and related topics.

  • OXFORD INSTITUTE FOR ENERGY STUDIES (OIES) Oxford,UK

    An agreement has been signed between KFAS and OIES to devote in-depth research by OIES staff and associate network of researchers in Kuwait, to make the program’s research findings accessible to as wide a public as possible, to offer capacity-building opportunities in cooperation between OIES and Kuwaiti institutions, in research and the final workshop, as well as via opportunities for visiting fellowships for Kuwaiti academics, and internship opportunities for Kuwaiti students.

    The Kuwait Program at Harvard Kennedy School is a strategic partnership between KFAS and the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (HKS). Administered by the Middle East Initiative, the program serves the leaders and decision-makers of various institutions in Kuwait, the GCC, and the wider Arab world through unique opportunities for cooperation on advanced research, teaching, training and outreach on critical issues of importance to Kuwait and the region.

  • THE WORLD ACADEMY OF SCIENCES (TWAS) FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SCIENCES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES Trieste,Italy

    TWAS is a global science academy based in Trieste, Italy, working to advance science and engineering for sustainable prosperity in the developing world. TWAS and its partners offer over 600 fellowships per year to scientists in the developing world who want to pursue PhDs and postdoctoral research.

    The Kuwait Programme on Development, Governance and Globalisation in the Gulf States is a strategic partnership between KFAS and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The Programme is based in the LSE Middle East Centre and funds systematic and practical enquiry into fundamental questions in the social sciences of relevance to the Gulf Cooperation Council states.

    The Programme’s goals include fostering the growth of advanced studies and research in physics and mathematics, especially among researchers from developing countries; providing an international forum for the exchange of information and ideas among scientists from the North and South; and maintaining excellent research facilities for visitors, associates and fellows, principally from developing countries, who participate in the Centre's research and training activities.
